a poem is a book
written by those for whom words don’t come so easily
who don’t see the world in sentences and paragraphs
still, poets get the whole picture
same as you and me
bits and pieces completed the way we do
towns and houses
chairs in kitchens
dogs in mangers
all just about as likely as winning the jackpot
twice
