I love the work of many other cartoonists. Here’s a few examples.
An absolutely brilliant turn on language. imho
Paul Noth, published in the New Yorker. Lest we have any illusions that we can change the world by speaking the truth.
Shanahan. Shared this one with a friend who was feeling sorry for himself.
A terrific and rare example of a cartoon breaking the fourth wall. Very conceptual!
I like the idea of re-captioning other people’s cartoons. It’s an odd way to make a point.
Christof Niemann A bit on the clever side for me, but high on originality for sure.
Dan Levenson, really an artist but kinda on the edge
Navied Mahdavian. Found on ToonStack. Some cartoons will just never get published.
Steed. Simply the best!
Barry Blitt also writes about ideas that just won’t and maybe shouldn’t get published. Anything Nazi is verboten. The cruelty is beyond parody somehow. Which isn’t to say that it doesn’t cross our minds now and again. Never forget is right.
We all enjoy new additions to certain familiar cartoon scenarios. The wisdom seeker visiting the reclusive monk is a classic. Here’s a few great example of one of my favourite tropes.
The bone is not the reward. Digging for the bone is the reward.
For some, the answer is a cat. For most, the answer is a dog.
“Now I have a question for you.”
I can’t seat you until you are fully present.
Will he retire? And by the way, what is the meaning of Omaha.
