I’ve been thinking about the Bible story of David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17) lately.
It all started with thoughts about Michelangelo’s David, such a stunning work of art.
Poor Israel is suffering from a Goliath proportion backlash of global condemnation. It’s a hard situation to read, but you know, on this day, October 7th two years ago, Hamas took many lives and innocent hostages. It could have been your grandmother.
And that’s all she wrote as far as I’m concerned. Unleash the hounds. According to the story, the Philistines flee and are pursued by the Israelites “as far as Gath and the gates of Ekron”.
You can choose to be part of the hive-mind Goliath if you want, it’s a free country, but my money’s on the beautiful boy with the sharp eye and smooth stone.
Personally, I think “our” collective history places us squarely on Israel’s side. If you are a Christian, which I happen to be, the Jews are our people. Christianity has deep Jewish roots and developed out of Judaism. Jesus and his first followers were Jewish.

In any case, more to come.
